How should I prepare the bowl for first time use?

• Wash bowl with water before use. Never use household cleaners to clean your fish bowl.
• Add rocks or small plant if desired. Rinse accessories before use.
• Add warm water 3/4 to top. Recommend adding tap water conditioner to neutralize chlorine.
• Water should sit for at least 1 hour until room temperature.
• Carefully add fish to tank. Do not fill tank more than 7/8 full.

How often should I clean the bowl?

• Clean bowl weekly.
• Prepare secondary bowl with warm water.
• Add tap water conditioner to neutralize chlorine and let sit 1 hour.
• Remove 25% of dirty water from fish bowl with cup and replace with new, treated water.
• Do not fill tank more than 7/8 full. Monthly
• Fill a secondary bowl that's larger than fish bowl with warm water. Treat with tap water conditioner and let sit for 1 hour.
• Fill cup with water from secondary bowl and with fish net, carefully move fish to cup.
• Empty dirty water. If using rocks, place under faucet or remove rocks from bowl to wash. Sift gently under water to remove waste.
• Empty water but do not remove all sediment from bottom. Some algae are necessary.
• To remove film from bowl walls, use algae pad or damp cloth. Aquarium-safe glass cleaner may be used. DO NOT USE HOUSEHOLD CLEANERS.
• Add treated water from secondary bowl. Do not fill tank more than 7/8 full. • Carefully return fish to bowl.

What are Zooquariums fish bowls made of?

• The bowl is made of safe PET plastic
• The frame is made of MDF with a melamine protective coating. While melamine protects the frame from water damage it should not be ingested. Do not place the Zooqaurium fish bowl in reach of children who may chew on it

Will my fish jump out?

• Each bowl comes with a protective lid which may help prevent fish from jumping out. It does not secure to the bowl. Not suggested for reptiles that may push the lid off.
